Mikveh clean-up/renovation is ongoing. Our mold abatement specialists have been hard at work finding the source of the problems and recommending the needed repairs. Thank you to the Mikveh Commitee for its work in supervising this project and in working on the by-laws and incorporation.
We are making an effort to update our member database. Please make sure to let the office know if you have a new email address, have moved, are away for part of the year or have yahrzeit information that we may not know about. The easiest way to keep your information current is to call the office and request a membership information form. There you can update your information, give us your Hebrew name, let us know your special dates, such as anniversaries and birthdays and much more.

Ways to Give to the Shul
* Ner LaMaore donations are offered as a way to honor or remember someone special. Minimum donation is $10. A card is sent to the honoree' letting him or her know that a donation was received in his or her honor and providing the donor's name and address.
* Sponsor a Kiddush: Many people decide to honor or remember a person or event by sponsoring a kiddush. Sponsorships are available for $36 (Bronze), $54 (Silver) or $72 (Gold). Every effort is made to reserve a particular date for the kiddush when requested.
* Oil Fund: With the high cost of heating oil, many have contributed to the oil fund as a practical way to help the shul keep the shul warm and welcoming during the cold winter months.
* Mikveh Renovation Fund: Starting in the winter of 2007, a committee of community members formed to work together to improve and renovate the mikveh, the only mikveh in southern Maine. Contributions made to this fund go exclusively towards this effort and can be sent to the shul. Make checks payable to the "Mikveh Renovation Fund."
* The Rabbi's Discretionary Fund allows Rabbi Herzfeld to provide support to individuals in need, special projects of interest and any other cause which he feels it is important to support and foster.
* The General Fund: Donations can be sent to support the general fund to carry out the work and operation of the synagogue.
* Special Event Sponsors: The shul is always in needs of donations and sponsors to help defray the costs of shul dinners, special events and visitng scholars. Call the Rabbi or the shul office if you would like to help with an event.
* Volunteers: If you have some free time and can volunteer at the shul, either for a one-time event or on a regular basis, it would be most appreciated. Some of the ways volunteers are needed include cooking for events or a kiddush, helping to serve or clean-up at shul dinners, general repairs on the building, helping with mailings, providing transportation to and from events for members who no longer drive, serving on the Board, helping with the mikveh, upkeep of the grounds and whatever else might interest you.
